This presentation will focus on the indications and prescribing guidelines for various anticoagulation agents; who is best suited for each agent; contraindications of various agents and considerations for treatment and management based on the agent and patient factors. This presentation will also review the latest guidelines and recommendations for the newer non-warfarin agents in addition to reviewing recommendations and clinical pearls related to all anticoagulants from a patient perspective, and discuss the pitfalls to using the newer agents.
