This course will review basic and new research that supports the value of teaching emotional self-regulation to through Relaxation Response and mindful awareness.
Learning Objectives:
- Discuss basic and new research that supports the value of teaching emotional self-regulation to patients.
- Describe three basic practices that they can build into their cardiac or pulmonary rehabilitation programs.
- Teach patients to attune to their physiological stress response and counterbalance it with simple practices.
- Build patients’ competence in emotional self-regulation and decrease their allostatic load.
- Help patients ameliorate their own way relating to themselves and others through emotional self-regulation.
